January 2019 Update

Happy New Year!  I am looking forward to 2019 with great anticipation and excitement, and in particular to February 10, which will be “TEN Sunday”, when TEN will be the focus and emphasis of the three morning services.

Briefly, here’s where we are in the three components of TEN:

EDUCATE

We recently received a completed application from Modeline Ana (whose nickname is Lina) of Haiti (Heartline Ministries).  Lina is 18, and is in the process of obtaining her passport and taking the Test of English Fluency (TOEFL) exam.  We look forward to meeting and interviewing her via Facetime during the next few weeks; Lina appears to be a strong candidate.  We are awaiting a completed application from Gabriel Arconja Correia, from Brazil (Athletes in Action).  Be praying for God’s leading as we work with these potential Fall 2019 students.

Davies Kalange successfully completed his first semester at TMU and is spending the holidays with his two host families, splitting time between the Skikas’s and Kerchners.  I’d like to acknowledge and thank Rob & Celeste (Kerchner) and John & Janice (Skikas), who have opened their hearts and homes to Davies this year to provide him family support.

Also, you may have seen the article about Davies in the December 23 SCV Signal Sunday magazine, “From the Crossroads, With Gratitude”.  If you missed it, be sure to check it out either on the Signal’s website or their Facebook page.

PLANT

We are continuing to evaluate potential church planters and to work with Elders and Staff to fine tune our strategy and plan for church planting.

GIVE

We will be reviewing the TEN Vision, our TEN requirements, and opportunities to give on February 10, TEN Sunday.  Giving to support TEN objectives of paying off our building debt in ten years, educating students, and planting churches will all be over and above giving for Crossroads’ general budget.

As we have shared earlier, reaching our TEN objectives will depend on two things- first and most importantly, God’s plan and provision; and second, the stewardship and generosity of God’s people.

Please join me in praying for God’s leading in the hearts of individuals and families as we head into 2019.

Thanks and blessings,

Kim Miles | Ten Ministry Director
